Update: Bridges of St. Paul

Bridges_2 We, like the rest of the city have been following the Bridges of St. Paul story.  Here is the latests from the St. Paul Pioneer Press:

Stacking of West Side board threatens St. Paul’s grass-roots
Pioneer Press, MN – 6 hours ago
the election of an entire slate of candidates sponsored and promoted by Jerry Trooien, the well-heeled force behind the proposed Bridges of St. Paul project on

I found the story in today’s St. Paul Pioneer Press interesting on more than one level.  Our district council system does have some weaknesses and Troien’s recent actions bring out some flaws.  Many St. Paul residents do not understand the district council system and do not participate in the process, it would be possible to replace an entire district council board, mainly because there is often little communication, or direct contact, between the council and most of the community.

To learn more about why district councils were set up and how they work read St. Paul Participation.  To learn more about your own neighborhood district council see neighborhood information and district councils on the city of St. Paul web site.   After reading the information provided, you may not exactly understand how the system works and your role in it.
