The Smell that launched a generation

It is Friday and Friday are for fun.  last weekend I attended the most excellent Minnesota Bloggers Conference and one of the speakers mentioned Mimeograph machines.

Ever since then I have been thinking about the look and smell of a mimeographed page.  I remember the sheets of spelling words the nuns at Sacred Heart used to put on mimeographed sheets and all the red ink they added when they graded my test.

I am sure that the ink contained hazardous chemicals but I would love to smell my spelling test again.  Does anyone still use the mimeograph?

Honk if you remember the look and smell of that wonderful purplish blue mimeograph ink.

It’s one of those smells that immediately transports me back to grade school. Thanks for the memory, Teresa!

I have a client who sells and services these machines. They are used nowadays by Amish schools and by tattoo artists.
