Last week some clients of mine closed on this home. They have been searching for a place to live and to call their own. They did not buy it as an investment in anything other than their future together as a family. They have lived in the area as renters for the last several years.
Like the previous occupants of this wonderful craftsman style home thy plan on living here for a long time. Their daughter goes to a school near by and is thrilled to have the entire attic for a bedroom. I predict that the home will be a good financial investment too, as they enjoy living in it and the money that they spend on the mortgage payments, instead of rent, will help them build equity.
I wish them happiness in their new home.
Congratulations to your clients, Teresa. Every day, little grace notes of success emerge from the score of the American Dream, but you hardly hear them amidst the gloom-and-doom drumroll in the national media. Thanks for this thoughtful post.
I agree, what a great move for these people. Everyone is saying negative things about the housing market. It’s not a good time to buy etc. I was recently married and we are looking for a home to raise a family and enjoy together. I am not looking for a short-term investment, I am looking for a home. I can rest assured that if we live there for 10 years or more, it will prove to be a wise investment. There are plenty of home buyers out there who are not speculators. We are real people and real families that want a place to call their own.
Thank you for some happy news on the real estate front. It’s easy to fall into the funk of spiraling numbers and forget that houses aren’t just money-making machines, but a places to call home and provide deep roots in a community.
Yah! This was a fun post and it isn’t even Friday.
This is a very refreshing article. The greatest challenge is restoring buyer confidence when all that they hear is that the sky is falling.
That is what is right with the real estate market. Someone getting a great “home”. Recently we had a seller who told me that she would be willing to take less for her mother’s estate home if it was going to a nice couple/family/single mom who would love it like her mother did. I am glad your clients got a great home!
