We have some beautiful old cemeteries here in St. Paul. I guess I have always had a fancination with them because of they show the history of the city. Calvery Cemetery , located on Front Street in St. Paul is the oldest of the catholic cemeteries. It was dedicated by Bishop Cretin in 1856, the oldest of The Catholic Cemeteries. Buried almost 101,000 persons since 1856, still currently averaging 290 burials per year. It is filled with beautiful monuments and old Oak trees. It is huge and very easy to get lost in.
Oakland cemetary founded in 1853 is a non denominational cemetery. It is smaller the Calvary and there are a lot of civil war veterans and politicians buried in it. The oak trees are amazing, as are the monuments.
just to avoid any confusion I don’t sell cemetery plots.
Great! I love cemeteries too, despite some friends consider it “weird”. I am West Toronto realtor, so I am dealing with architecture a lot, but cemeteries are special and have completly different atmosphere to buildings (pitty they are not sold too :). You can find some interesting places among Toronto cemeteries too, but the most atmospheric cemetery is Pere Lachais in Paris, it’s atmosphere is unbelievable (just a pitty there is lot of tourists, but I believe you can find some calm moments…)!
West Toronto Realtor – I have seen cemeteries in Paris. Went to Normandy a few years ago and drove through the ancient little towns and say the most amazing cemeteries. Some of the most beautiful art work and architecture can be found in cemeteries and most people miss it.
I love your blog. I am in the real estate business in Rhode island and am debating devoting more energy to my companies blog. I can tell that you devote a tremendous amount of energy to your blog. Do you feel that you get a solid return on your investment? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Teresa your photos are awesome. i have also seen your material on flickr. I ride around and see beautiful shots to take but for some reason when i hit the “take photo button” it all starts to look like kid art.
