St. Paul Home Prices & Sales By Neighborhood

I love numbers.  I mean that seriously.  One months data doesn't mean all that much but it does mean something.  I don't like to "spin" it but I am qualified to make a few meaningful observations, and I try to do that each time I publish these numbers.

Feb2010

The numbers may not look all that great but the sales prices are up from last February and the reason they are so low is because the lower priced homes sold like crazy while the higher priced homes just kind of sat there.   The inventory of homes on the market has gone up which is a good thing for some buyers.  I have a couple of buyers that need more choices and this week we have some more homes to look at. Home sales are up from last month, home prices on average were down.  No surprises in this data.  The market has been fairly stable and some what predictable for the last few months.

Real estate is local for more local housing market statistics see Local Market Conditions & home prices.

The data used to make the table in this post was gathered from out most excellent MLS, it is deemed reliable but is not guaranteed.

Do you ever wonder why I decorate my numbers?  For two reasons.  One is because the charts are kind of boring and the other is because people like to steal them.  I am happy to share but people just take them without a link back or credit.  With my decorations the charts are very easy to spot and identify. It takes some work to make one so I suppose for some it is easier to wipe mine than to make one.

  1. It is a good idea to decorate your chart with flowers… Not just because it beautifies the chart…but as you’ve said, you did that to avoid anyone from stealing it. very wise!

  2. I am sad to hear you need to decorate your charts. I understand people would want to use the data, but all they need to do is give you a link back?!? It is called being honest…and reputable. I would not want an agent representing me that did this, quite frankly.
With that said, I enjoy reading your blog. I am a virtual assistant and have a client in Waconia. I saw your chart and decided to do one for him as well. Of course it is a completely different area and towns and I logged into MLS, created the queries, etc so I can pull the numbers. But thanks for doing such an excellent job on all of your blogs. I’ve learned much!
