There are plenty of lakes in Minnesota . . you know the land of 10,000 lakes where there are more than 10,000 lakes. I like lakes but enjoy the river too with the miles of trails and park land and woods filled with wild flowers, wild turkeys and the tents that homeless people live in.
People live on the river too. In house boats and some people work on the river loading and unloading barges and working on the tow boats. The Mississippi River is a major transportation corridor and the barges are one of the most inexpensive ways to move stuff.
