The new ibox key box from GE will replace just about everything. (If you are a REALTOR with a smart phone)
Starting on Monday local REALTORS will be turning in their electronic lock boxes and exchanging them for the new Ibox. Our current system works by putting a key pad similar to the one in the picture on a lock box, punching in our secret code, and waiting for a little black box containing keys to the home to drop. The system is not perfect but it works. The local REALTOR associations control the key pads and give them to REALTORS and home inspectors.
The new system replaces just about everything. The key pad shoots an inferred beam at the box which drops the key. The key pad holds data so REALTOR can track how many homes she has been to. The box can be programed so that it can only be opened on certain days or during certain hours and can be programed to give the keypad information like, take your shoes off, leave a card etc.
The system also works with a smart phone, like a Treo. The agent points the phone at the box and the box opens. The system allows the user to have full access to the MLS, to appointment systems and feedback systems through the phone. The Treo eliminates the need for internet access because it can be used with lap top computers to get wireless internet access or can be used to access the internet with out a computer at all. A REALTOR can also access all real estate forms through a smart phone, fill them out and use a portable printer to print them.
If we are all smart enough to figure out how to use all these gadgets and can come up with enough money to pay for them life will be good.
