An old family recipe

white-ice-cube-trayIt is Friday and Fridays are for fun. I am writing this one for my family because I want to share a recipe with them. In the summer the elderly ice maker in our fridge can not keep up with the demand for ice. I suppose the dang thing could be repaired or replaced and I can certainly add it to the long list of things that need repair but for now I have a different solution.  I have been making ice cubes and I make new ones almost every time I take some.

I have reason to believe I am the only one in the house who makes ice cubes and I got to thinking about it maybe they don’t know how so I am going to share my recipe.

Fill ice cube trays, pictured on the left,  with water and put them in the freezer. When the water gets cold it becomes an ice cubes, pictured on the right. Take ice cubes out of trays and dump them into the container where ice maker ice cubes live. Refill ice cube trays with water and put them back into the freezer. Repeat this process at least twice a day during the summer months or as needed. ice cubes
